Arthur A. Champagne

Dannemora � Arthur A. Champagne, 91, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Dannemora on Aug. 16,1909, the son of Alex and Amelia (Collette) Champagne.

He was employed as a miner at Republic Steel in Lyon Mountain for 34 years, retiring in 1967. He later worked for Forrence Orchards for 20 years, retiring in 1987. He was a former union steward while at Republic Steel.

He is survived by two daughters, Loretta Fitzpatrick of Beekmantown and Betty Mooney of Morrisonville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His wife, Minnie Champagne, and a son, Clifford Champagne, died before him.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon on Monday from St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora.

Interment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.
