Mary Elizabeth Shoffner
(January 13, 1937 – October 7, 2011)

 

Mary Elizabeth Shoffner, 74, of Lakeview, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 7:15 a.m. in the Emergency Room of Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.

She was born in Urbana, Ohio on January 13, 1937, a daughter of the late Lewis and Margaret (Bair) Purtee. She was also preceded in death by a brother and a grandchild.

She worked in the housekeeping department at Logan Acres, Bellefontaine.

She married Edward Shoffner and he survives along with daughters, Brenda Carmen of Marion, Sandra Hood of Piqua; step-daughters, Ginger (Reula) Newland and Vicky (Sam) Allen both of Lima and Cindy Shoffner of Wapakoneta; step-son, Bobby (Laura) Shoffner of Springfield; 4 grandchildren, Michael Carmen, Cathy Bolton, Amy Chupp and Lori Carmen and numerous great-grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Pastor Glen Gault will officiate a funeral service on Tuesday, October 11, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Myron Van Horn Chapel of Smith-Eichholtz Funeral Home, Lakeview, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.

William Purtee, 78, of 400 Kristina Drive, Bellefontaine, died at 12:50 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Pavilion Nursing Home, Sidney. 

He was born in Logan County on Nov. 23, 1931, a son of the late Lewis and Margaret Behm Purtee.

He was married to the former Dorothy Jean Haas who died July 19, 1997. He also was preceded in death by four sisters.

William is survived by eight children, James Purtee of Springfield, Mike (Rosemary) Purtee of DeGraff, Jerry Purtee of Urbana, Ronnie (Tamy) Purtee of New Carlisle, Bev (Rob) Kemmere of Mt. Victory, Teresa (Dean) Baker of West Liberty and Tim (Chandra) Purtee of Casstown; one sister, Mary (Ed) Shoffner of Lakeview; two brothers, Joseph (Mary Jane) Purtee of Sidney and Arthur (Carol) Purtee of Quincy; 24 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

William retired from Neer’s Sand & Gravel, Bellefontaine.

Private graveside services will be at the convenience of the family at Fairview Cemetery, Quincy.
