Lisa Ann Schoonmaker

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. — Lisa Ann Schoonmaker, 29, a 5-year resident of Hopewell Junction, formerly of Plattsburgh, N.Y., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in East Fishkill, N.Y. She was born Aug. 18, 1978, in Sharon, Conn., the daughter of John Schoonmaker and the late Catherine Thornton. Lisa was a graduate of Northern Adirondack Central Schools in Ellenburg, N.Y.

Her son, Joseph Wheaton Avis, Jr., age 7, also died on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, as a result of the accident.

Besides her father, John Schoonmaker, and stepmother, Joann Schoonmaker, of Ellenburg, N.Y., she is also survived by a son, Zachery Avis, of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; her paternal grandparents, Viola and Paul King of Ellenburg, N.Y.; her companion, Joseph Wheaton Avis, Sr. of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; two sisters, Shannon Schoonmaker-Bannerman of Hyde Park, N.Y. and Danielle Pantusco of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; and four brothers, John Schoonmaker of Amenia, N.Y., Jesse, Justin and Jonathon Schoonmaker of Ellenburg, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Mill St., Dover Plains, N.Y. Burial will take place at Valley View Cemetery, Dover Plains, N.Y.
