Ellenburg man
dies shoveling
snow

George Yelle, 67, died suddenly
at his home Saturday,
January 10. He was born In
Ellenburg Center Feb. 6, 1902,
the son of Peter and Alice Boyea
Yelle,,
Survivors include his wife, the
former D e lla Dupree; one daughter,
Mrs. Phillip (Dorothy)
Owens of Shreveport, La. ; one
brother, Clifton Yelle of Ellenburg
Center; two sitters, Mrs.
Eugene (Mildred) Peets ofPlatttburgh
and Mrs. Nelson (Ida)
Rollo of Johnson City, N. Y.,
and one grandson.
Funeral services were held at
9:30 a. m. Tuesday from St.
Edmund’s Church, Ellenburg.
The body will be placed In the
vault to await spring burial.

Herbert Yelle
dies after long
illness

Herbert W. Yelle, 67, died
Friday night at the Cham plain
Valley Unit of the Plattsburgh
Medical Unit. He had been 111
for some time.
He was born In Ellenburg on
July 2, 1900, the son of Peter
and Alice Boyea Yelle. He lived
his entire life in the Ellenburg
and Chateaugay areas. Until his
retirement for health reasons
three years ago, he was employed
in the remelt section of
Alcoa at Massena for many years.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s
Church, Chateaugay, and
of Wadham’s Council, Knights
of Columbus.
On December 29, 1919, he
was married to the former Addle
Dominic in St. Edmund’s Church,
Ellenburg. His wife survives.
Also surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Harold (Helma) Brooks
of Chateaugay, and Mrs. Arthur
(Ina) Keysor of Burke; two
brothers, Clifford and George,
both of Ellenburg; three sisters,
Mrs. Edgar (Mae) Bow of Ellenburg,
Mrs. Ida Nelson of Bing
hamton; three grandchildren and
his stepmother, Mrs. Addie Rollo
Yelle of Ellenburg.
Friends called at the home of
his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Keysor
of the Burke-Chateaugay Road
until funeral services on Monday
morning at St. Patrick’s Church.
Burial was in the parish cemetery.

DIES; SERVICES
ON THURSDAY

Miss. Cordelia Yelle, 74, who
had been in failing health for
some time, passed away at midnight
at her home, 64 Main
street.
Miss Yelle was born at Black
Brook on Feb. 10 1874,, the
daughter of the late Octave and
Cleofia Feuereault Yelle. For
many years, She worked for
Stern’s department store in New
York city. She had resided in
Saranac Lake for the past 11
years.
She is survived by tvvo sisters,
Mrs. Ida Rondeau and Mrs.
James Disco, both of this village.
The body is reposing at Keough
Memorial chapel. Funeral services
wil be conducted at 9 o’clock
Thursday morning, in St. Barnard’s
Church. The body will be
placed in the vault to wait burial
in the spring

Mrs. Phoebe Disco
Dies; Rites Today

Funeral services were held at
9:30 a.m. today in St Bernard’s
Church for Mrs. Phoebe Disco, who
died Saturday noon at a local nursing
home fallowing a long illness.
Burial will be in the Spring in
Pine Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Disco was born on February
14, 1871 in Burlington, Vt.. the
daughter of Octave and Cleotha
Foucrault Yelle. A resident of Saranac
Lake for 60 years, she was
the widow of James Disco, who
died in 1950.
Survivors include a son, Percy,
and a sister, Mrs. Ida Rondeau, of
Saranac Lake. There are also several
nephews and nieces

81, died Friday at the county infirmary.
He was born in Ellenburg Aug. 22,
18t5, the ton of Andrew Yelle and
Myra Duprey.
He is survived by five brothers,
Clifford, Leo and Horace, all of East
Hampton, Mass., Henry of Gardner,
Mass. and Walter of Schenectady
and four sisters, Mrs. Jennie Patnode
of Malone, Mrs. Lillian Larock
of Florida, Mrs. Eva Charbneau of
East Hampton, Mass, and Mrs.
Myra Fleet of Farmingham, Mass.
Calling hours will be at the Clark
Funeral Home in Champlain today
and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and
from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services
will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at St.
Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks.
Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Rufus J. Yelle
WITHERBEE – Rufus J. Yelle,
71, of Dalton Hill Road, died
Saturday, Nov. 21, 1992, at his
home.
He was born April 10, 1921, in
Mooers, the son of Wilmer and
Mamie (DuVal) Yelle.
He retired from Republic Steel
Corp. of Mineville after 28 years
and from the Town of Moriah
Highway Department after 13
years. He was a veteran of World
War II and a life member of the
Mineville Post 5802 VFW.
Survivors include his wife,
Josephine (Okusky) Yelle; a
daughter, Nancy Slattery of
Queensbury; two sons, David
Yelle and Randy Yelle, both of
Witherbee; a sister, Mina Hebert
of Champlain; two brothers,
Francis Yelle of Altona and
Harold Yelle of Champlain; seven
grandchildren, one great-grandchild
and several nieces and
nephews.

Y. Keysor, 57, died Saturday morning
at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was bom June 7, 1922 in
Ellenburg, the daughter of Herbert
and Addie (Dominic) Yelle.
She was employed as a waitress
at the Royal Savage Restaurant in
Plattsburgh.
She is survived by her husband,
Arthur Keysor of Morrisonville
two sons, Lloyd of Sheppard, Mich.
and James of Plattsburgh; her
mother, Mrs. Addie Yelle of
Chateaugay and one sister. Mrs.
Harold (Helma) Brooks of
Chateaugay.
Calling hours at the O’Neill-
Redden-Drown Funeral Home in
Plattsburgh will be held today
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at
11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patricks
Church in Chateaugay.
Burial will be in St. Patrick’s
Cemetery in Chateaugay.

Vivian Brooks, 65, of 14 Collins
St., Chateaugay, died Saturday,
Sept. 30, 1989, at the CVPH
Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born Oct. 4, 1923, in
Ellenburg, the daughter of
Herbert and Addie (Dominic)
Yelle.
In her earlier years, she had
been a part-time employee for
McAdam Cheese in Chateaugay.
She was a communicant of St.
Patrick’s Church in Chateaugay
and a member of the Altar and
Rosary Society. She was a
former den mother for the Boy
Scouts in Chateaugay.
She is survived by her husband,
Harold H. Brooks, whom
she married Nov. 9, 1942, in St.
Bernard’s Church in Lyon
Mountain; one daughter, Mrs.
Paul (Janice) Shannon of Plattsburgh;
her mother, Mrs. Addie
Yelle of Chateaugay; and three
grandchildren, Paul, Daniel and
Amanda Shannon, all of Plattsburgh.
A son, Harold Brooks
Jr., died in 1962; her sister, Ina
Keysor in 1979; and her father,
Herbert Yelle in 1968.
Calling hours will be held from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in
the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
A vigil wake service will be held
at 8 p.m. today at the funeral
home. Funeral services will be
held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St.
Patrick’s Church with the Rev.
Fay W. Ager celebrating the
Mass of Christian burial. Burial
will follow in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be
made to Chateaugay Rescue
Squad.
