MORRISONVILLE –
Richard J. Benware. 56, of
Shingle Street, died Sunday, July
1, 1990, at the CVPH Medical
Center.
He was born July 8, 1933, in
Lyon Mountain, the son of
Herbert and Sadie (King) Benware.
Mr, Benware had been
employed by the mints in Lyon
Mountain and as a laborer with
the Local 186 until he retired
due to ill health. He was a
member of St. Alexander’s
Church in Morrisonville.
Survivors include his wife, the
former Marion Rabideau Benware
of Morrisonville; three sons
and a daughter-in-law, James
and Michelle Benware and
Donald Benware, all of Plattsburgh,
and Ronald Benware of
Morrisonville; two daughters
and a son-in-law, Deborah Benware
and Lou and Margaret
“Peggy” Allen, all of Morrison-
ville; a brother, William J. Benware;
one sister, Mrs. Geraldine
Rounds of Lyon Mountain; three
grandchildren. Lee Allen, Penny
Allen and Kenny Allen, all of
Morrisonville; and several nieces
and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at
the Brown Funeral Home. Park
Row, Cadyvilie. A Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrat-
ed at 11 am Wedensday at  St
Alexander s Church. Burial will
follow in the family plot in St.
Bernard’s Cemetery, Lyon
Mountain.

LYON MOUNTAIN — Clifton H.
Benware, 60, died Monday morning
at the CVPH Medical Center.
He was born July 15. 1920 in Ellenburg,
the son of Herbert and Sadie
(King) Benware.
He retired from Republic Steel in
Lyon Mountain after 30 years and
then retired from the CVPH
Medical Center, where he was
employed as a custodian.
He leaves his wife, Frances
P r i s c o f s k y Benware; two
daughters, Patricia Gillette of Morritonville
and Mrs. Peter (Nancy)
Palmer of Pavillion; four sons, Clifton
Benware of Fort Edward and
Alex, David and Anthony Benware,
all of Lyon Mountain; a sister, Mrs.
Leonard (Geraldine) Rounds of
Lyon Mountain; two brothers,
William Benware of Cadyville and
Richard Benware of Morrisonville,
and 13 grandchildren.
Calling hours will be at St. Bernard’s
Convent today from 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 pm
Funeral services will be held
Wedensday at 11 am at St Bernard’s
Church.
Entombment will be in the parish cemetery
vault.
Arrangements re by the Chateaugay
Funeral Home.

Geraldine S. Rounds

Geraldine S. Rounds, 84, of Third Street in Lyon Mountain, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She was born in Ellenburg, N.Y., on Sept. 26, 1917, the daughter of Herbert and Sadie (King) Benware.

She was married to Leonard “Teddy” Rounds on Oct. 10, 1936, in St. Bernard?s Convent in Lyon Mountain. He predeceased her on Sept. 23, 1988.

Mrs. Rounds is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Margo Rounds of Lyon Mountain, N.Y., Carlton and Ann Rounds of Lyon Mountain, N.Y.; six grandchildren and their spouses, Tim and Mary Rounds, Brian and Laura Gokey, Robert and Heidi Ouimet, Carlton Rounds, Jody Rounds and Genessa Rounds; two step-grandchildren and their spouses, Henry and Monica Venne and James and Erika Harrigan; nine great – grandchildren, Kathryn Rounds, Sara Rounds, Emily Rounds, Samantha Rounds, Roseanna Rounds, Parker Decosse, Paige Decosse, Brett Ouimet and Chelsea Ouimet; and three step great – grandchildren, Michael Gokey, Rachael Venne and Adam Venne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a great-grandson, Ryan Decosse; three brothers, Clifton “Buck” Benware, John Benware, and Richard Benware.

Mrs. Rounds was a communicant of St. Bernard?s Church in Lyon Mountain and a 51 year member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Daughters.

She was also a member of the Lyon Mountain American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Rounds enjoyed sewing and loved to go bowling and snowmobiling. She devoted her life to her family.

Calling hours will be held at the Lyon Mountain Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Jan. 23, 2002, in St. Bernard?s Church, with Msgr. Bernard Christman officiating. Burial will take place in the Spring at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Lyon Mountain.

Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
