SCIOTA – Joseph Matott 83
of Sciota died Friday in Chaimplain
Valley Hospital after a
short illness.
He was a retired farmer and
a former resident of Cnamplain
Of late years, he had made his
home with his daughtmer Mrs.
Dennis Yelle of Sciota.
He was barn in Champlain
March 26, 1881, s son of Antoine
and Julia (Dusseau) Matott. His
wife, the former Rose Pelthier
died in 1926. They had seven
Mr. Matott is survived by
Mrs. Yelle and another daughter,
Mrs. Hiram Abare of Chazy.
four sons, Clifford of West
Chazy, Orville of Peru. Leo of
Chazy and Lawrence of Champlain;
two sisters, Mrs. Philip
Guay of Champlain and Mrs
Charles Cassevah of Plattsburgh;
28 grandchildren, and
17 great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to the
Clark Funeral Home in Champlain
where friends may call
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p m
A Requiem Mass will be cele-
brated Monday morning at 9 in.
St. Joseph’s Church. Cooper-
ville. Burial will be in the
parish cemetery.

Evelyn J. Yelle
SCIOTA – Evelyn J. Yelle, 82,
of Route 22, died Monday, Sept.
21, 1992, at the CVPH Medical
Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Champlain
June 23, 1910, the daughter of
Joseph and Rose (Pelkey) Matott.
She was married at St. Joseph’s
Church in Cooperville in 1928 to
Dennis Yelle. He died in 1982.
She was a parishioner of St.
Louis of France Church and a
former member of the Altar-
Rosary Society of the parish. She
was a Social Services aide for 40
years, retiring in 1989.
Survivors include two sons,
Joseph Yelle of West Chazy and
.Anthony Yelle of St. Augustine,
Fla.; eight daughters, Mrs. Frank
(Martha) Bushey of Plattsburgh,
Mrs Hillard (Prescilla) Dragoon
of West Chazy, Mrs. Ronald (Viola)
Hazen of Chazy, Mrs. Roger
(Carolyn> Defayette and Mrs
Gerald (Elene) Miller, both of
West Chazy, Mrs. Gerald
(Shirley) Gonyo and Mrs. Raymond
(Linda) Duprey, both of
Mooers, and Mrs. Roland (Bar*
bara) Jubert of West Chazy;
three brothers, Orville Matott of
Peru, Leo Matott of Chazy and
Lawrence Paquette of Champlain;
38 grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews. A son,
Clifford Yelle, died in 1957.
Calling hours will be held today
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at
the R.W. Walker Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian burial will
be celebrated on Thursday at 11
a.m. at St. Louis of France
Church. Burial will follow in St.
Joseph’s Cemetery in West
Memorial donations may be
made to the West Chazy Rescue
Squad or the Cancer Society
