OBITUARY

TRICK, JOSEPH. C., SR. age 88, of Tipp City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at his residence, as was his desire, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Phyllis (Thies), his son, Dale and his wife, Kimberly (Heigel), his son, Daniel and his wife, Valerie (Koogler), his daughter, Nancy Hochdoerfer and her husband, Charles, his daughter, JoAnn and her friend, Randy (Waymire), and a daughter-in-law, Karen Trick (Wolfe). Also mourning his passing are ten grandchildren, (Robert, Michael, Samuel, Andrew, Tara, Kevin, Jennifer, Erin, Jason, and Joseph III.), six great-granddaughters, and one great-grandchild to be born in the spring. He is also survived by one brother and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Josephine (Logel), and one son, Joseph, Jr., and two brothers and two sisters. Dad was a retired tool and die maker, and one of the best. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry, going to the casino, following the stock market, and watching the deer eat corn from his ground feeders. Dad loved the Lord. The family wishes to thank the Hospice staff for their care and understanding in his final days. Visitation will be at the FRINGS & BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 West Main Street, Tipp City, 2 PM to 6 PM, Sunday, December 16, 2018. Mass of Christian burial at ST. Theresa I . Trick (Johnson)

News Death Notice

TRICK, Theresa I. (Johnson) passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the St. Leonard Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Francis J. Trick, in 2005. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law: David and Cynthia Trick of Beavercreek, Robert and Janice Trick of Kettering, Anthony and Nancy Trick of Beavercreek and Stephen and Michelle Trick of Lebanon. Four daughters also survive her: Karen and David Deeter of IL, Patricia and Kevin Seppala of MO, Deborah and John Toth of FL and Katherine and David Tunney of Cincinnati. One sister, Patricia Manak of FL also survives her, as do eighteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME Beavercreek Chapel on Sunday afternoon, September 15 from 2 PM until 5 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 312 Fairgrounds Rd. Xenia, OH 45385 on Monday, September 16 at 10 AM. Robert L. Trick

TRICK, Robert L., 91, longtime resident of Cincinnati, formerly of Dayton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016. He was born in Dayton, OH on May 30, 1925 to Lawrence & Bertha (Schnorr) Trick. Bob was retired from the State of Ohio. He was a member of the St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Cincinnati. Bob was an active volunteer for Right-to-Life of Greater Cincinnati and Mercy Franciscan Hospital. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leo, Lawrence, Leonard, Louis, Herman, Sr. (Henrietta) & Rev. James Trick. Survived by his brothers, William Trick (Joanne) & Edward Trick (Jacque); sister, Sister Teresa Trick, OSF; sisters-in-law, Judith & Anne Trick; numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces & nephews, and countless friends. Evelyn Ruth Trick

NEUMAIER, Evelyn Ruth, 82, of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 at her home. Evelyn was born in Dayton, OH on May 25, 1934 to Clarence & Josephine (Logel) Trick. She was a 1952 graduate of Julienne High School and was retired from Leland Electrosystems. Evelyn had attended the Living Word Church in Vandalia. Preceded in death by her son, John G. Neumaier, in 2009. Survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Bertram Neumaier; daughters, Linda Thiele, Sharon Beeman & Donna Jackson; son, Charles Neumaier; many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Martha Chapman, Dorothy Gibson & Charlotte Tiller; brothers, Joseph Trick and Donald Trick, Sr.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & many friends. Herman Trick

TRICK, Sr., Herman 91, of Dayton, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at his home. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on June 4, 1924 to Lawrence & Bertha (Schnorr) Trick. Herman was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Burmese jungle. He worked as a tool designer for over 54 years. Herman was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, Fr. Kuhlman Assembly, and long time member of Knights of Columbus Marian Council #3754. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Henrietta Trick, in 2011. Survived by his daughters, Margaret Marie Bell (Gerry), Rita Ann Canty (Mike) & Florence Louise Trick; sons, Herman Joseph Trick, Jr. (Barbara), Francis Joseph Trick (Melissa), Peter John Trick (Cindy) & Robert James Trick (Diana); 13 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren; sister, Sr. Teresa Trick, S.S.F; brothers, Edward, William & Robert Trick; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. TRICK, Kevin H. died April 8, 2013 after a lengthy illness in Ft. Meyers, Florida. Age 60 years, formally of Kettering, and former owner of Trick’s Landscaping. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Bernice Trick. He is survived by a wife Linda and two dear children; Joel and Kara Trick, a brother, Gary (Deborah) Trick and sisters Gean (Bob) Seubert and Donna (Martin) Anastasi. There are six nephews. He was a graduate of Archbishop Alter High School and Vincennes University. Funeral services were conducted in Florida. Memorial Mass will be held 8:30 a.m., Saturday May 4th at St. Albert the Great Church.

Rev. James F Trick

TRICK, Rev. James F. age 78, passed away on Sunday, June 02, 2013 at 1:13 P.M. at the Mercer Co. Community Hospital, Coldwater, OH. He was born on September 18, 1934 in Dayton, OH, the son of Lawrence and Bertha (Schnorr) Trick and they preceded him in death. He is survived by his siblings, Sr. Teresa OSF of Oldenburg, IN, Herman Trick of Dayton, OH, Edward (Jacqueline) Trick of Arcanum, OH, William (Joanne) Trick of Kettering, OH, Robert Trick of Cincinnati, OH and sister in laws Ann of Kettering, Judi of Dayton, and Jacque of Vandalia. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters in law; Leo Trick, Leonard (Betty) Trick, Larry Trick, Louis Trick and Henrietta Trick. Fr. Trick did his preparatory studies at St. Gregory Seminary. He studied theology at Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary of the West in Norwood, OH. He was ordained on May 28, 1960 at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral in Cincinnati by Archbishop Alter. During his 53 hears as a priest, Fr. Trick served in many capacities. On May 15, 1960 He began his first assignment as assistant at St. Lawrence parish in Cincinnati. In August of 1960, he was appointed as an assistant pastor at St. Elizabeth parish in Norwood where he served until 1967. While at Norwood, Fr. Jim was also a teacher at Purcell (1960-1965) and Regina High Schools (1965-1967). From 1967-68, he served as an assistant pastor at St. Mary’s Parish, Middletown, OH where he also was a chaplain at the local hospital and a teacher at Middletown Fenwick. In 1968, he was Director of Religious Education for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. In 1969, Father was an assistant pastor at Sr. Francis de Sales, Cincinnati and was a teacher at Elder High School. From 1970-75, he served as a full time associate pastor at St. Francis De Sales and from early 1975-76 he served as a substitute pastor for the following parishes; St. Louis of North Star, St. Remy of Russia, St. Paul of Yellow Springs, St. Helen’s and Miami Valley Hospital of Dayton, Providence Hospital of Cincinnati, St. Agnes, of Cincinnati and Holy Angels of Sidney. He served as co-pastor of Holy Angels in Sidney from 1976-84 and became pastor of Holy Redeemer in New Bremen (1984-1996) and he served two terms as the head of the St. Mary’s Deanery. From 1996-98, he served as a temporary associate pastor of St. Mary in Greenville, OH. In 1998, he was pastor of St. Lawrence of Rhine and Immaculate Conception of Botkins until his retirement in 2002. After his retirement in 2002, he resided at Indian Lake. He was a member of the Indian Lake Knights of Columbus. Later he moved to Maria Stein, OH, and helped reopen the Maria Stein Spiritual Center. In his later years, he resided at the Carthagena Senior Retirement Center and most recently at the Briarwood Village in Coldwater, OH. Earlier in his priesthood, Fr. Trick studied art under Paul Chitlau and Frank and Dianne McElwain in Cincinnati. Over the years, he created many spiritual paintings. His favorite divinely inspired piece of work was entitled “Gentle Love.” Fr. Jim’s other interest included photography, fishing and gathering with friends. He directed youth and adult retreats. He led the Monday night prayer team in St. Henry for many years. He also presided at Faith Rallies and Healing Services at the Spiritual Center in Maria Stein. He ministered by using humor and his creative talents in teaching and leading people in Pentecostal prayer. He blessed many people throughout his years of being a faithful servant to the Lord. Reception of the Body Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. at the Church of the Holy Redeemer on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Friends may call from 4 until 8 P.M. at the Church of the Holy Redeemer 120 S. Eastmoor Dr., New Bremen. OH. Visitation will also be on Thursday morning from 9:30 until the time of the services at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of the Holy Redeemer New Bremen with The Most Reverend Dennis M. Schnurr presiding and with Rev. Thomas Mannebach, Rev. Mr. Jerry Buschur and Rev. Mr. Greg Bornhorst concelebrating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Dayton, OH. TRICK, Sr., Robert C. Age 93 of Dayton, passed away November 27, 2015. He was born October 21, 1922 in Dayton to the late Charles E. and Hazel V. (Hendricks) Trick. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by first wife, Helen L. Trick; second wife, Jean Trick; son, Robert Trick, Jr. and his wife, Judy; son, Stephen Trick; step-daughter, Judy Black; step-son, Rick Franks; grandchildren, Rowland Trick and Charles J. Carpenter. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann (Brice) Miller; Families who took care of him during his later years, grandson, Trevor Mays Warman and his wife, Denise and family; great-grandson, Kyle Adams and his wife, Kendyl and family; great-grandson, Anthony Adams. Bob was also survived by granddaughters, Cherie (Chad) Burks and Irene (Tim) Nations; brother, Nelson Trick and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren; extended family and friends in Anderson, IN, AZ, FL and OH. The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to the staff at Vitas Hospice and Kettering Home Care. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army/Air Corps during WWII. He was stationed in many countries during the war overseas. Bob traveled the world many times, not only in the military but on his own and through his work. His hobbies included traveling, photography, sewing, gardening, building things, wordsmith and going to the casinos. Family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 PM on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. where a funeral service will begin at 1:30 PM. Reverend James F. Trick, retired pastor and educator, died on Sunday, June 2. He was born on September 18, 1934, in Dayton, Ohio. He did his preparatory studies at St. Gregory Seminary and studied theology at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West. Father Trick also received a Master’s degree in English from Xavier University. He was ordained on May 28, 1960 at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral by Archbishop Karl J. Alter.

Father Trick received his first assignment on June 15, 1960 as assistant at St. Lawrence Church, Cincinnati. He also served as an assistant at the following parishes: St. Elizabeth Church, Norwood (1960-1967); St. Mary Church, Middletown (1967-1968); Nativity of Our Lord Church, Cincinnati (1968-1969); St. Francis de Sales Church, Cincinnati (1969-1976); and Holy Angels Church, Sidney (1976). In July 1976, Father Trick was appointed co-pastor of Holy Angels Church, Sidney.

In 1984, he was appointed pastor of Holy Redeemer Church, New Bremen, where he served until 1996. In August 1996, he was appointed associate pastor of St. Mary Church in Greenville, Ohio. On July 1, 1998, Father Trick was appointed pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, Botkins, and St. Lawrence Church, Rhine.

During his years of ministry, he also taught at Purcell High School, Regina High School, Elder High School, and McAuley High School, all in Cincinnati, and Bishop Fenwick High School in Middletown. Father Trick also served as Supervisor of the Religion Department in the Catholic Schools Office of the Archdiocese and Dean of St. Marys Deanery. Father Trick retired in 2002.

Visitation was held today, June 6, at Holy Redeemer Church, followed by Mass of Christian Burial and then interment at Calvary Cemetery.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati is the 38th largest Catholic diocese in the country, with almost 500,000 Catholics, and has the sixth largest network of Catholic schools in terms of enrollment. The 19-county territory includes 214 parishes and 114 Catholic primary and secondary schools.

Helen Trick

Helen Kinzeler

KINZELER, Helen R. (Trick) age 84, of Oakwood, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Walnut Creek Nursing Center. Helen was born April 24, 1923 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Frank and Frances Trick. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, George; son, George of Denver, CO, and grandson, Sam Kinzeler; son, Dave and wife, Linda and grandchildren, Nicole and Brian Kinzeler of Centerville; daughter, Kathy and husband, Ralph Mantica and grandchildren, Chris, Mike and Tim Mantica of Kettering; son, Don and wife, Mary and grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca, Jessica, Jenny, Danny, Katherine and Andy Kinzeler of Dublin, OH; sisters & brothers-in-law, Virginia & Harry Worman and Mary & Wes Magalis. Helen was preceded in death by her sisters, Esther Shirk and Florence Norris; brothers, Frank and Bernie Trick. Helen was a retired nurse and an avid writer, contributing on occasion to the Dayton Daily News. She was active in Choir and as a Reader at St. Albert the Great Parish. A special thanks to lifetime friend, Helen Priske and loving caretakers, Ethel Cockrell and Lucille Smith and all the wonderful nursing staff and caretakers at Walnut Creek, for all of the kindness, gentleness and love given to Mom. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2007 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave., Kettering, Ohio, with Rev. Gary Aultz, Celebrant.
