MERRILL.

On Monday, March 24th, at her
home In Merrill, occurred the death
of Mrs. Dennis Gonyea, Sr., aged
69 years. Her maiden name was
Sophia Laport. She was born in
Redford in 1844, and in 1861 she
was united in marriage to Dennis
Gonyea where with God’s grace
they journeyed life together till
death came. She had been in failing
health for some time past and
her death will be an extreme sorrow
to her many friends. She leaves
to mourn her loss, her husband and
six sons, Mose, of Worcester, Mass..
Philip of Gabriel*, Michael, Fred
Dennis and James of Merrill, and
three daughters. Mrs. William White
of Grand Rapids, Minn., Mrs. Edward
Peach of Bannerhouae and
Mrs. Merritt McCosland of Merrill.
Funeral services were held at Lyon
Mountain, Rev. J. A. Hervieux officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Moses Gonyea, of
Worcester, Mass., were called home
on Monday by the Illness and death
of Mrs. Dennis Gonyea.
Philip Gonyea, of Gabriels, was
called home by the death of his
mother, Mrs. Dennis Gonyea.

LaPorte Sr., Francis B. “Red”
 
PLATTSBURGH — Francis B. “Red” LaPorte Sr., 66, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at the Skilled Nursing Facility at the CVPH Medical Center with his sister, Catherine LaVarnway and his niece, Elaine LaVarnway by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 25, 1941, the son of Leo and Mary E. (Blanchard) LaPorte Sr.
Mr. LaPorte was a member of St. John’s Church.
Francis worked for the Town of Plattsburgh and Trudeau Trucking. He was also self employed providing lawn care and yard work for many area families.
He loved hunting, fishing, auctions, bingo and especially his cats.
Survivors include five stepsons, William Dubuque Jr., Steve Dubuque, Joseph Dubuque, George Dubuque and Robert Dubuque; one stepdaughter, Carol Lashway; two brothers, Leo “Pumkin” LaPorte and Ronnie Porter; two sisters, Catherine LaVarnway and her husband, Frank, and Bernice Clay; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Goldie R. (LeClair) LaPort in 1996; one brother, Robert LaPorte; and one sister, Evelyn “Bunnie” Barber.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the R.W. Walker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William G. Reamer officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in Holy Angels Cemetery in Altona.

Ernest LaPorte
PLATTSBURGH – Ernest
“Jed” LaPorte, 82, formerly of
Plattsburgh and Dannemora,
died Thursday, June 19, 1986 at
the Clinton County Nursing
Home.
He was born in Standish on
Sept. 3, 1903, the son of Michael
and Edith (Perry) LaPorte.
Mr. LaPorte was a construction
worker and woodsman for
many years.
Survivors include a brother,
Leo LaPorte of Plattsburgh; two
sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Patten
and Mrs. Violet Faucher, both of
Plattsburgh; and several nieces
and nephews.
Three brothers, William. Victor
and Ezra LaPorte. died
earlier.
Calling hours at the R.W.
Walker Funeral Home will be
held today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral arrnagements were
incomplete Thursday night

LaPorte, 68, of Cadyville died
Monday in the Champlain
Valley unit of the Medical
Center after a long illness.
He was born in Chazy, Feb.
2, 1902, the son of the late Michael
and Edith Marie
(Perry) LaPorte.
He is survtved by two
daughters, Mrs. Eleanor
Macey of Morrisonville and
Mrs, Salley Osborne of Plattsburgh
 a son, Andrew LaPorte
of Cadyville: two sisters, Mrs
Beatnce Patton and Mrs. Violet
Faucher, both of Plattsburgh;
four ‘ brothers. Victor
LaPorte of Plattsburgh,
Ernest LaPorte of Dannemora.
Ezra LaPorte of Beekmantown,
and Leo LaPorte of
Schuyler ‘ Falls, and four
grandchildren.
Friends may call at the
Brown Funeral Home from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be sung
Thursday at 11 am. from the
Church of the Assumption in
Redford. The funeral cortege
will leave the funeral home
at 10:15 am
Burial will be in the parish
cemetery.

Plattsburg-Funeral services for
Victor G LaPorte 68 who died
Sunday at the CVPH Medical
Center ere held Wednesday at
Our Lady of Victory Church.
The Rev Edward Rivette Officiated.
Bearers were James Carron, Fred
Carron, Leland Kimbel and John
Pettyjohn.
Burial was in the Church of
Assumption Cemeter in Redford.
Survivors include his wife. The
former Lena Gonyea , Two sisters
Mrs. Lynn Patten and Mrs. Violet
Faucher, both of Plattsburgh and
three brothers, Ernest of Dannemora,
Leo of Plattsburgh and Ezra of Beek-
mantown.
