Abraham “Abe” W. LaMare Written by pressrepublican.com Saturday, August 12, 2006 LYON MOUNTAIN — Abraham “Abe” W. LaMare, 54, of Saranac Street, Lyon Mountain, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, N.Y., after battling cancer. Born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on March 16, 1952, he was the son of Adrian and RoseAnn (Agoney) LaMare. He was married to Donna Dowd on Aug. 14, 1982. Abe is survived by his wife of 23 years; a daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Brett Smith of Spokane, Wash.; his mother-in-law, Marjorie Dowd, whom he loved very much; eight brothers and sisters and their spouses, Zella and Rodney Rock of Morrisonville, Louise and Henry Jones of Virginia, Renalda and Robert Wood of Saranac, Adrian “Dave” and Joan LaMare of Morrisonville, Flossie and Robert “Bob” Bushey of Mooers, Leon and Joan LaMare of West Chazy, Margaret LaMare of Virginia, Sylvia Trembley of Ile Perot, Canada; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Barbara Dowd of Morrisonville, Bill and Cindy Dowd of Chateaugay Lake; his pet babies, Akita, Cinder and Jed. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Paul, at birth. Abraham attended the Catholic school in Dannemora. He was employed at Imperial Wallcoverings in Plattsburgh for 30 years and worked for Roberts Sport Center in Saranac for two years. He was employed at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora for seven years as a motor vehicle operator. He retired due to illness on June 14, 2006. Abraham was a member of the Lyon Mountain United Methodist Church, past president of the Trail Groomers Snowmobile Club and member of CSEA. Calling hours will be held at the Lyon Mountain Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 14 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, in Lyon Mountain United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Davis officiating. Burial will take place at Eastside Cemetery, Chateaugay. Donations in his memory may be made to the Lyon Mountain Fire Department or Hospice of the North Country.
