Rapheal T. Irwin
PERU – Rapheal T. Irwin,
70, of the Patent Road, died
Wednesday, Feb. 8, 1989, a t
Medical Center Hospital of
Vermont, Burlington.
He was born June 5, 1918, in
Peru, the son of William and
Anna (Swinyer) Irwin.
Mr. Irwin was a retired electrician
who worked at Plattsburgh
AFB, a former Peru Central
School District bus driver
and a former dairy farmer. He
was a veteran of World War II,
having served in the U.S. Army.
His memberships included:
Peasleeville United Methodist
Church; Keeseville Elks 2072,
AuSable River Masonic Lodge
149 in Keeseville, American
Legion Post 20, VFW Post 125
and DAV R. LaFountain Post
179, all in Plattsburgh; Golden
Apple Senior Citizens in Peru;
and the American Association of
Retired Persons (AARP).
Survivors include his wife, the
former Thelma Peryea of Peru;
two sons, William “Larry” Irwin
and Thomas Irwin, both of Peru;
a daughter, Kathleen Ann Danford
of Aurora, Colo.; two
sisters, Mrs. Archie (Martha)
McCord and Mrs. Patrick (Ruth)
Boswell, both of Peru; nine
grandchildren, a great-grandchild
and several nieces and
newphews.
Calling hours will be from 7 to
9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p.m. Saturday at the Lester E.
Thew Funeral Home. Special
services will be as follows: VFW
at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Elks at 8
p.m. Friday and Masonic at 3
p.m. Saturday. A funeral service
will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at
the Peasleeville Methodist
Church. Burial will be in
Peasleeville Cemetery this
spring.
Memorial donations may be
made to Peru Rescue Squad or
Peasleeville Cemetery Association.
