Lawrence L. Logel, age 97, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Logel had worked as a tool and die maker for Whirlpool Corporation for 46 years before retiring in 1982 and was a member of the Whirlpool Retirees Club. Lawrence was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He was also a member of VFW Post #1114. Lawrence’s greatest love was his family and he enjoyed growing blackberries, garlic and tomatoes in his backyard garden.
Surviving Lawrence are three daughters, Judith (Robert) Logel-Scott of Denver, CO, Carol Logel of Evansville and Rita (Kenneth) McAtee of Evansville; two sons, James (Marty Winstead) Logel of Evansville and John (Renee` Schlueter) Logel of Iowa City, IA; three grandchildren, Daniel (Brooke) McAtee, Nicholas (Alyssa Miller) Logel and Jamie Logel; two great grandchildren, Kolby Logel and Bella McAtee and a sister-in-law, Bettye Logel of Evansville.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Audrey (Hays) Logel in 2003 and by his ten siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Rev. Raymond Brenner officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 4:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Monday at Resurrection Church.
