PLATTSBURGH — Maureen S. “Moe” King, 46, of Cogan Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Mass.
She was born April 7, 1965, in Plattsburgh, the daughter of Wayne and Sheila (Camfield) King.
Moe graduated from Plattsburgh High School, Class of 1983, and received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education from Plattsburgh State. At the time of her death, she was a fifth-grade teacher at Oak Street Elementary School. Moe will be remembered for her passion for teaching and her ability to connect with students. She enjoyed gardening, photography, traveling, hiking, taking motorcycle rides, cooking and entertaining. She was an animal lover.
She is survived by her two children, Ryan Pepper of Plattsburgh and Meagan Pepper of Syracuse; her fiancé, Stephen Buergin of Plattsburgh; her parents, Wayne and Sheila King of Lynchburg, Va.; her siblings, Laureen White and her husband, Todd, of Woodstock, Va., Kyle King and his wife, RoseAnn, of Lenox, Mass. and Kathleen Warren and her husband, Greg, of Roanoke, Va.; and her canine companion, Allie. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.
Maureen was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, George and Mary King, and her maternal grandparents, Edward and Lois Camfield.
Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter’s Church. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Maureen S. King Scholarship Fund, which will be established.
