Marie T. (LeClair) Rascoe 
  ALTONA – Marie T. Rascoe, 76, formerly from Lyon Mountain, from Twin Oaks Senior Housing in Altona,
died with her family at her side at the CVPH medical Center on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, after a long illness.
She was born March 25, 1930, in Ellenburg, NY the daughter of the late Raymond and Florence (Burgoyne)LeClair.
  Marie was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Oscar Rascoe; her son Joseph Rascoe; her daughter Tina
Rascoe; her brother, Donald LeClair; and her sister, Anna Gromoski.
  Marie is survived by her sons, William and Mary Rascoe of South Weymouth, Mass., Roger and Jane Rascoe of Wallkill, NY,
David and Mary Rascoe of South Weymouth, Mass.; her daughters, Gloria and Carl Trombley of Ellenburg Center, NY,
Carolyn and Peter LaFountain of Altona, NY, Joanne Rascoe and Anna Klinger of Roscoe, NY. her brother Robert and Margaret
LeClair of Saranac; her sisters Lucille Carter and Janet Uhler of Plattsburgh, and 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Marie worked many years for St. John’s Catholic Church in Plattsburgh and St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Lyon Mountain and retired from the Diocese of Ogdensburg in 1996. She was a member of the Lady of Ours Snows Catholic Daughters of Lyon Mountain, the Queen Mother of the Red Hats Society of Altona and a long standing president of the Twin Oaks Senior Club at Twin Oaks Senior Housing in Altona. She was well known for her dedication to detail in planning and working on the special events of the senior housing. She was also an avid quilter and donated dozens of lap quilts to Patch the Gap for area nursing homes. A family statement reads, “Mom was the one who always kept the family together no matter how far apart we were. No matter how hard times may have been, she would always bring us up with her strong faith,
love and a smile.”
  Calling hours will be from2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2007, at Brown Funeral Home, 3123 Miner Farm Road, Altona. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated with the Rev. Gilbert O. Boisvert officating at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Altona on Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 11 a.m.   She will be buried in the spring next to her husband Oscar in the St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in Lyon Mountain.
