Zenith M. Opperman, 86, died at 7:34 p.m. Sept. 29, 2007, at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She was born Sept. 22, 1921, in Jackson Center to Lewis and Bernice Lawhead Dobie, who preceded her in death. On May 29, 1946, she married Ned E. Opperman, who died July 5, 1996.

Mrs. Opperman was a homemaker and, along with her husband, Ned, was co-owner and operator of the former Opperman Insurance Agency, Wapakoneta. She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445 Auxiliary, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1170 and its Emblem Club, and AMVETS Post 330 Auxiliary, all in Wapakoneta. A 1939 graduate of Blume High School, she enjoyed monthly luncheons with some of her classmates. Her other interests included spending time with her grandchildren and crocheting.

Survivors include two sons, Terry D. (Kathy) Opperman, of Wapakoneta, and Rodney L. Opperman, of Orange City, Fla.; a daughter, Marcia A. Longacre, of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren, Michael Opperman, Jennifer (Michael) Whitehead, Melissa (Chris) DiRienzo, Lori Opperman, Matthew Opperman, Amy (William) Corbett and Angela Leist; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mary Dobie, of Wapakoneta.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Dobie.

Services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta. Pastor R.J. Davis will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice.
