Cecil L. Shoffner

Cecil L. Shoffner, 81, 1242 Rees Drive, a lifelong resident of Sidney, passed away on March 8, 2011, at 7:38 a.m. at his residence.

He was born Dec. 13, 1929, in Logan County, Ohio to the late Fred and Ida (Brown)Shoffner.

Cecil was married on June 25, 1955, to Irva (Flinn) Shoffner and she preceded him in death in May 1995.

He is survived by daughter, Sandra (Carl) Hayden; and grandsons, Dean Hayden and Kyle Hayden, of Sidney. Also surviving is his companion and best friend, Bobbi Helmlinger, of Wapakoneta.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brothers, Fred Shoffner, Marion Shoffner, LloydShoffner, his sisters, Ruth Akers, Mabel Snider, Rose Fogt, Agnes Starrett and Martha Shoffner.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Cecil retired after 41 years of faithful service from Monarch Machine & Tool Co., Sidney. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, of Sidney. He was a member of the American Legion Post 217 of Sidney, Eagles Lodge of Wapakoneta and Moose Lodge of Indian Lake, Ohio. He loved to dance and enjoyed playing the lottery.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, with Pastor Jonathan Schriber officiating. Internment will be at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.

Friends and family may Friday call from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church, 120 W. Water Street, Sidney, OH 45365 or Miami County Hospice in Cecil’s memory.
