Fred Gadway

Mooers Forks � Fred Gadway, 87, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2005, at his life long home.

He was born May 5, 1917, in Mooers Forks, to Mose and Melvina (Brassard) Gadway.

Fred and his wife Lillian devoted their lives to operating a successful dairy farm until their retirement. Fred had a great love of the outdoors and all animals. He enjoyed keeping up with current events in news and sports and delighted in visits from friends and family.

Survivors include his half sister, Ellen Decosse of Mooers Forks, N.Y.; three sisters-in-law, Thelma Gadway of Mooers Forks, Theresa Gadway of Witherbee, N.Y., and Mary Gadway of Ormand Beach, Fla.; he is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.

His wife of 41 years, Lillian E. (McComb) Gadway, died July 18, 1987.

He is also predeceased by his brothers, William, Arthur and Gilbert; his sisters, Edith Noe, Eva Latourneau and Irene Cenci; his half brothers, Alfred, Amada, Joseph and Edward; his half sisters, Nettie Rabideau, Minnie Bobbie, Mary Girard and Bertha DeCoste.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m. from the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot with the Rev. Megan Stowe presiding. Burial will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Ellenburg Depot.

A reception will follow the committal services at the Ellenburg Depot Fire Department.

Donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Mooers Fire Department/Rescue Squad.
