Edward J. Gadway

WITHERBEE, NY — Edward J. Gadway, 95, of 236 Wason St., Witherbee, died Friday Dec. 3, 1999 at the Helen Porter Nursing Home, Middlebury, Vt. He was born Nov. 10, 1904 at Mooers Forks, the son of Moise (Gadbois) and Marie Helene (Houle) Gadway. He was a retired employee of Republic Steel Corp. Mineville.

He is survived by his daughters; Shirley Marinello of Moriah; Christine Stone of Schroon Lake; his sons; Randall Gadway of Gorham; Andrus Gadway of Norwood; Michael Gadway of Fair Haven; his sisters; Mary Girard of Plattsburgh; Ellen DeCosse of Mooers Forks; Eva Letourneau of Bowdon, Maine; his brothers; Gilbert Gadway of Witherbee; Fred Gadway of Mooers Forks; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Mildred (DeCoste) June, 1985, they were married in 1936 at Mooers Forks; his daughters; Lorraine Landon, June 1983; Rebecca Wolff, Jan. 1999; his son; Maurice Gadway, 1991; his sisters; Nettie Rabideau, Minnie Bobbie, Bertha DeCoste, Edith Noe Irene Cenci; his brothers, Alfred, Amada, Joseph, William and Arthur; and his stepmother, Melvina (Brassard) Gadway.

Calling hours will be held Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 10 a.m. at the Church of All Saints, Mineville, Rev. Michael Toth officiating. Burial will follow in St Peter and Paul Cemetery, Moriah.

Memorial donations may be made to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad or the American Cancer Society.
