Virginia T. Gonyea

PLATTSBURGH �Virginia T. Gonyea, 85, of 17 Tom Miller Road died on Friday, Jan. 21, 2000 at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Plattsburgh on April 6, 1914, the daughter of Louis M. and Ida M. (Brault) Masella.

She married Victor N. Gonyea on June 14, 1935 at Our Lady of Victory Church. Mr. Gonyea died Feb. 28, 1996. Mrs. Gonyea was an avid bingo player.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne M. Gonyea of Morrisonville and New Port Richey, Fla., and James C. Gonyea and his wife, Pam of New Port Richey, Fla.; one daughter, Marilyn M. Niland and her husband, Peter. A. of Washingtonville; one brother, John Masella and his wife, Kathleen of Plattsburgh; a sister, June Parker and her husband, Robert of Plattsburgh; three grandchildren, Leslie Tanneberger of St. Albans, Vt., Lisa Sherman of New Port Richey, Fla., Korie Gonyea of Palm Harbor, Fla.; three great – grandchildren, Kassandra Sherman of New Port Richey, Fla., Matthew Tanneberger and Alicia Tanneberger of St. Albans, Vt. and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, Roswell Masella, and a sister, Mary Masella died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home with funeral services to be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in the spring
