Richard Gonyea, 66

Richard A. Gonyea, 66, of 296
Park St., died at 1:45 pm, Sunday,
June 3 at Saranac Lake General
Hospital where he had been admitted
on May 29. He had been in failing
health for about a year.
He was born on July 30, 1923 in
Tupper Lake, a son of Wilford and
Lydia Miller Gonyea, and attended
the local schools.
A World War II Army veteran ,he
saw action with the 35th Transportation
Corps in the Asiatic-Pacific
Theater in the campaigns in New
Guinea and the Philippines, serving
from 1943 to 1946.
On February 12,1946 he was married
here to Jeanne McLear, who survives
Mr. Gonyea was a member of
Tupper Lake Lodge 640,Loyal Order
of Moose, and a life member of Edmund
Post 3120, Veterans of
Foreign Wars. An avid bowler, he
was active in the Monday League of
the Tupper Lake Bowling Association
He was employed by Adrien
Girouard Logging in lumbering
operations for man) years.
V.F.W. and Mo >se services were
held Monday at the Rennell Funeral
A Mass of Christian burial was
celebrated at 3 pm. Tuesday at St.
Alphonsus Church and interment was
in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
Surviving, besides his wife, are
two sons, Richard and Bruce Gonyea,
and a daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Nancy
) LaPierre, all of Tupper Lake ;two
brothers, Louis Gonyea, Tupper
Lake, and Gordon , of Star Lake;
seven grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
Three brothers, William,
Leonard and Maynard Gonyea,
predeceased him.
Memorial contributions to the
Tupper Lake Rescue Squad may be
arranged through the Rennell
Funeral Home.
