Mildred Mary (Desotelle) Rascoe

PLATTSBURGH ? Mildred Mary (Desotelle) Rascoe, 81, of Beekman Towers, entered eternal peace Saturday June 24, 2000 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Plattsburgh, Jan. 27, 1919, the daughter of Adolphus and Dorothy (Martineau) Mitchell.

Mildred was a chef for many years at the Southern and the Cadillac Club. She was also employed by JCEO as a cook for Head Start.

She enjoyed cooking, going to yard sales and spending time with her family. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Dennis Casey. Five sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Barbara Rascoe of Black Lake, and Richard and Grace Rascoe, Maynard and Margaret (Peg) Rascoe, Michael Rascoe and companion Alice Lavene, Dale and Esther Rascoe, all residing in Plattsburgh; 23 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Her brothers and their spouses, Lawrence and Nancy Mitchell of Wyckoff, N.J., Gary and Maryann Mitchell of Plattsburgh, Harry “Junior” Mitchell of Plattsburgh, Mrs. Maynard (Gloria) Mitchell of Plattsburgh, her only sister Helen Stone of Hughsville, Pa.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Andrew and Frances Rascoe of Plattsburgh; several nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend, Kay Collins, of Plattsburgh.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband Harry Rascoe; her brothers, Herman Desotelle and Maynard Mitchell; her sisters, Bertha LaMarche and Sylvia LaChaunce, and her brother-in-law Richard LaChaunce.

Calling hours will be Monday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown?s Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter?s Church. Burial will follow at St. Peter?s Cemetery in Plattsburgh, followed by a reception for family and friends held at the upper room of St. Peter?s Church.
