SUMNER COOK PASSES
AWAY AT AGE OF 54

Well Known Resident of South
Plattsburgh Succumbs After
Illness of Nine Months

Sumner Cook, a lifelong and highly
respected resident of South Plattsburgh,
passed away yesterday at
Sunmount Veterans hospital, Tupper
Lake, after an illness since last
November.
Mr. Cook was born March 9, 1883,
a son of the late Nile Cook and Mrs.
Mary (Gregory) Cook. He was a
veteran of the Spanish-American
War and was later active in Democratic
politics, having served two
terms as town tax collector and several
terms as assessor.
Mr. Cook is survived by his mother.
his widow, (nee Marilda Cox), and
seven children, as follows:— Mrs.
Victor Coolidge, Mrs. Carlton Westcott,
Miss Irene Cook, South Plattsburgh;
Miss Julia Cook and Charles
Cook, Fort Washington, N. Y., Harold
and Erastus Cook, South Plattsburgh.
Seven brothers also survive.
They are: Voyle Cook of Toronto,
Ontario, and Ellas, Wiilbur, Ruben,
Patrick, William and Erastus Cook
of South Plattsburgh.
Funeral services will be held from
the South Plattsburgh Methodist
church Sunday afternoon at 2:30
o’clock (D.S.T.) Interment will be
at South Plattsburgh,
