Sad Accident at Salmon River

Irene Cook, the 14-year-old daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Nile Cook, of
South Plattsburgh, was drowned Monday
in Salmon River.
Mrs. Cook, with two other children,
as on the bank of the river watching
her daughter, who was wading in
the stream. As the child waded out,
he water suddenly deepened and she.
was soon in over her depth A carried
down stream by the current.
Mrs. Cook rushed into the stream and
made a desperate effort to save the
little girl, wading out until the water
was above her mouth. being unable
to swim she was powerless and was
forced to see her daughter sink
before her eyes. the body was afterwards
recovered.
Coroner McMasters was notified, and
in company with Dr. E E. Lark in.
visited the scene of the sad accident
