Gertrude Welch


Mrs. H. B. Lasell
Gertrude Welch Lasell (Mrs.|
H.R). was the youngest daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Welch, and
was bom in the town of Altona
May 1st, 1871. All of her life was.
spent in the community in which
she was born. After completing her
school work at home, she studied
music at the New England Conservatory
of Music in Boston. On
Sept. 18th, 1889, she was married
to Henry R. Lasell of Ellenburg
Depot. Three children came to
them, Raymond, the first son, dying
in infancy. She is survived by her
husband, a daughter Mrs. R. H.
Brown of Plattsburgh, a son, Cliff –
ford M. Lasell of Troy, N Y. and
two sisters Mrs. I. L. Sheldon of
Ellenburg Depot, and Mrs. F. L.
Sheldon of Tacoma, Washington.
Mrs. Lasell took an active part in
church and community affairs. She
was a member of the Methodist
church where .she served as organist
for several years. She loved the
church work and the prayer meet-
ing, and was never absent unless
prevented by sickness. She was a
member of the Friendly Circle
which is composed of a group of
church members, and she was the
efficient regarding secretary for
the local W.C.T.U. for several
years. She was an earnest and loyal
Christian worker, a kind neighbor,
and a loving and devoted wife and
mother. She will be greatly missed
by a large circle of friends, “‘Blessed
are the dead which die in the ,
Lord. They rest from their labors
and their works do follow them.
