Leo W. Champagne
Champagne of Leonard Avenue
died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1992, at
CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Plattsburgh
Jan 29, 1914, the son of John
and Rose (Facteau) Champagne.
He retired in 1973 from New
York Telephone Co., where he
was an engineer. He was a
member of the Telephone Pioneers
of America, the Benevolent
and Protective Order of the Elks
Plattsburgh Lodge 621, and St.
John’s Church.
His first wi-fe, Gertrude
Champagne, died July 24, 1980.
Survivors include his wife, the
former Gladys Smart; two sons
and their wives, John and
G e o r g i a C h a m p a g n e of
Pmighkeepsie and Paul and Penny
Champagne of Plattsburgh;
one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (JeanK
Failor of Woodbridge, Va.; a
stepson and his wife, Ronald and
Chris Smart of Northport, Fla.; a
brother and his wife, Francis and
Helen Champagne of West Palm
Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday
from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
at Brown Funeral Home, 29
Broad St., Plattsburgh. Members
of the Plattsburgh Lodge of Elks
621 are meeting Tuesday at 7
p.m. at the funeral home for services.
A Mass of Christian burial
will be celebrated Wednesday at
11 a.m. at St. John’s Church.
Burial will follow in the family
plot at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be
made to the Heart Fund.
