Robert Whalen,
Ellenburg, killed
in crash
Robert Whalen, 19, of Ellenburg
Center, was killed Sunday
morning In an auto accident on
Rt. 190, Just west of the Vander.
bogart Rd. He was driving alone
when his car shot out of control,
rolled over and went down
an embankment.
He was the son of Mr, and
Mrs. Raymond Whalen of Ellenburg
Center, His mother is the
former Evangellne Tourville,
According to State Police,
the car went off the north side
of the road, struck a small snowbank,
and overturned. Whalen
was ejected, and the car then
went down the embankment,
landing on its roof.
The accident was not discovered
until some five hours
later, at 6 A. M,, when a farmer
came upon the wreckage.
Born June 21, 1950, he is survived,
besides his parents by two
brothers, Clement Whalen of
Rochester and Ronald Whalen of
Ellenburg Center; six sisters,
Mrs. Marjorie Gnass of Rochester;
Carol of Plattsburgh; Mrs.
Brent Trombley of Ellenburg
Services were held Tuesday at
10 a.m. at St. Edmund’s Church,
Ellenburg, with burial in Immaculate
Heart of Mary Cemetery
in Churubusco.
