Ruth M. Gonyea
MOUNT JACKSON, Va. – Mrs.
Ruth Mae (Hackett) Gonyea, 88,
died on Sept. 24,1983, at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. Lucky P. Fear in
Mount Jackson, Va.
Born in Saranac to Robert and
Melvina (Leno) Hackett on Sept. 18,
1895, she was married to Joseph I.
Gonyea. He died on Oct. 18,1956.
Mrs. Gonyea moved to her
daughter’s home in July. While living
in the area, she was a lifetime
member of the American Legion,
the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary
and the Rod and Gun Club.
She was a licensed practical nurse
in the Plattsburgh area.
Survivors include three
daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Bouyea of
Morrisonville, Mrs. Lucky Fear of
Mount Jackson. Va., and Mrs. Vera
DeMott Slaszkizwics of Asbury
Park.lM.J.; one son, Lloyd (Slim)
Gonyea of Plattsburgh; two
brothers, Ross Hackett of Michigan
and Guy Hackett of Plattsburgh;
one sister, Lillian Allison of Liverpool;
and many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are at her
daughter’s home in Virginia.
Graveside services will be in
Saranac at the Independent
Cemetery on Thursday at 10 a.m.
The Lindsey Funeral Home in
Harrisonburg, Va.. is in charge of
arrangements
