Cadyville ? Viola M. Duquette, 90, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Saranac on Dec. 25, 1921, the daughter of Charles and Mary (King) Hackett.

She graduated from Cadyville High School. She owned and operated Duquette?s Shopping Center and the Riverside Apartments in Cadyville for many years.

She was very active in serving the community. She was a member of R.S.V.P. and the Senior Citizens Council of Clinton County. She was a former member of the Home Bureau and the National Board of Senior Citizens.

She was a member of St. James Minor Church in Cadyville, where she was a catechism teacher, Eucharistic minister and member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by a son, “Mo” Duquette of Plattsburgh; a daughter and son in law, Gay (Duquette) Holtz and Bob Holtz of Clifton Park; three sisters, her twin sister, Vivian Hackett of Plattsburgh, Mrs. Valeda (Hackett) Prunier of Cadyville and Mrs. Valerie Demo of Plattsburgh; three grandchildren, Josh and Jeremy Holtz and Katie Duquette; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Her husband, Morris Duquette Sr. and several brothers and sisters died before her.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O?Neill-Redden Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday from St. James Minor Church in Cadyville. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.
