Genevieve Provost Gibbs
Plattsburgh  Genevieve “June” Provost Gibbs, 93, of Gravelly Point Drive, and also of Stuart, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1911, in Dannemora, daughter of George and Carrie (Ero) Ashline.

June had been employed at the L and M Restaurant in Plattsburgh, she was a home maker who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, latchwork, cards and BINGO. She would sit for hours enjoying the birds at her birdhouse. June was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh.

June is survived by her husband, C. Vernon Gibbs of Plattsburgh, they were married in Macon, Ga., on March 2, 1961; four children, Marjorie Carpenter and Lawrence of Plattsburgh, Philip Provost and Edith of Las Vegas, Nev., Deanna O’Connell and Roger of Cadyville, Thomas Provost of Plattsburgh; a stepson, Daniel Crannell and Wanda of Brownsville, Texas; step-brother, Laverne Ashline and Belle of Greenville Center; a sister-in-law, Edith Ashline of Chazy Lake; 20 grandchildren; 26 great- grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

June was predeceased by her first husband, Albert G. Provost; a son, Albert C. Provost; two brothers, Richard Ashline, Maynard Ashline; two sisters, Marjorie Poupore and Mildred Howarth.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 8, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 9, 2005, at 10 a.m. from St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Building Fund at St. Peter’s Church.
