RICHARD WHALEN
PASSES AWAY AT
HOME IN CLINTON
Richard Whalen passed away
Friday evening- at his home in
Clinton after a brief illness of
pneumonia. He was 78 years of
age.
His entire life was spent in Clinton
with the exception of three
years which he spent in Colorado,
where he went in 1880 and where
he engaged in the mining industry.
On returning home he engaged in
farming at the Whalen homestead
where be spent the past 52 years.
He was a devout member of St.
Philomena’s Church and was active
in county and town affairs and
held the esteem of all who knew
him.
He is survived by his widow,
Mrs. Catherine Hayes Whalen;
three sons, John H. Whalen, Malone;
David B. Whalen, Saranac
Lake; Roy R. Whalen, Churubusco,
and four daughters, Mrs. John
Brady, Churubusco; Mrs. Stanley
G. Williams, Utica and the Misses
Mabel E. Whalen and Eleanor A
Whalen, Churubusco.
