Francis J. Mitchell
. DANNEMORA — Francis J.
Mitchell; 51. of 5 Thayer Ave., died
early Saturday at the CVPH
Medical Center after a long illness.
He was born in Dannemora Jan.
7 1923 the son of Harry  and
Lillian (Light) Mitchell
He served with the Air Force’s 8
th Bombardment Squadron in
England during World War II and
was a past member of the
American Legion and Veterans of
Foreign Wars.
tie was also a member of the
Pittsburgh Lodge of Elks and an
exempt member of Walter N.
I fiayer Hose Co. of Dannemora.
He was employed by the New
York State Department of
Corrections having worked at
Dannemora State Hospital and
Green Haven and-Clinton Correctional
Facilities. He retired from
Clinton July I, 1971 due to ill health.
Besides his parents, he leaves his
wife, Ruth Moore Mitchell; two
daughters, Deborah and Donna,
both students at Dannemora High
School; a sister, Mrs. Gordon
(Doris) Deyo of Dannemora and a
brother, Donald Mitchell of Dannemora;
several, nieces and
nephews.
Funeral -services will bo held at
10 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s
Church in Dannemora
In Lieu of flowers the family
that donations be made to the
American Cancer Society, the
Heart Association or the
Dannemora ambulance fund.
