Ernest J. King

Chazy Lake — Ernest J. King, 69, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at his winter residence in North Fort Myers, Fla.

He was born at Chazy Lake on Sept. 19, 1931, the son of Ernest and Anna (Peryea) King.

He was employed as a correction officer at the Clinton Correctional Facility Annex in Dannemora for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Sorrell-Woodward American Legion Post 1623 of Lyon Mountain and was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Pecor) King of Chazy Lake; two sons, Gary King of Stanford, Conn., and Wallace King of Ontario; three daughters, Donnamarie Kriss of Louisville, Ky., Karlinda Pery of South Hero, Vt., and Gabberial Crowder of Fort Myers, Fla.; four brothers, Gerald King of Cadyville, Richard King of Melbourne, Fla., Lincoln King of Chazy Lake and Bernard King of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Maryanna Keenan of Peru and Aurelia McCusker of Cadyville; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A son, Ernest J. King Jr., died as an infant and a brother, Russell King, also died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. A vigil service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday from St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.
