Leander Begor

SARANAC LAKE — Leander
Begor, 82, of Vermontville. died
Tuesday morning at the Saranac
Lake General Hospital.
He was born on July 21, 1896 in
Ellenburg,’ the son of Ogdeir and
Barbara Campbell Begor. His wife,
the former Minnie Patnode, died in
im.He is survived by four
daughters, Mrs. Mildred Brown of
Franklin Falls, Mrs. Doris
Stickney of Bloomingdale, Mrs.
Cynthia Oliver of Gabriels and
Miss June Begor of Lake Clear;
four sons, Raymond and Marvin,
both of Vermontville, Dennis of
Saranac Lake and Paul of Las
Vegas; 32 grandchildren and 22
great-grandchildren.
Mr Begor had been a resident of
Vermontville for the past 60 years.
He was a veteran of World War I
and was employed as a carpenter
for many years with Potter and
DeWitt Construction Co.
There will be a funeral service
today at 10:00 a.m. at the Fortune
Funeral Home with the Rev. John
McClester, pastor of the First
Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment will be in the Brighton
Cemetery in May.

ELMER PATNODE, LYON
MT. NATIVE, DIES AT 43

Elmer J. Patnode, 43, a native of
Lyon Mountain, died Monday at
his home at Vermontville, following
illness of about eight months. The
funeral services were held Thursday
morning at St. Paul’s Church,
Bloomingdale. Interment was made
in the church cemetery.
Mr. Patnode was born at Lyon
Mountain on Nov. 11, 1902, a son of
Dominick and Pauline (Yelle) Patnode.
He attended the Lyon Mountain
schools and moved to Vermontville
about 25 years ago with
parents, who located on a farm.
His father died there April 14, 1944,
at. the age of 84.
Mr. Patnode is survived by his
widow, the former Helen Colllas;
four children, Grace Patnode of
Malone, Robert, Barbara and Marion
Patnode, at home; his mother;
three sisters, Mrs. Leander Begore
and Mrs. William Bouyea of Vermontville
and Mrs. William Purlong
of Bloomingdale; also two
brothers, Joseph Patnode of Rochester
and William Patnode of Vermontville.

Dennis F. Begor

LAKE PLACID - Dennis F.
Begor. 49. of 39 Power Street,
died Wednesday. Sept. 11. 1991,
at the Adirondack Medical
Center at Lake Placid.
He was born in Vermontville
Feb 11. 1942, the son of
Leander and Minnie (Patnode)
Begor
Mr. Begor was a plumber and
steamfitter by trade and more
recently owned and operated
Begor” s Taxi in Lake Placid until
ill health forced him to cease
its operation. Mr. Begor was a
veteran of the Army, serving
from 1963 to 1966. He was a
member of the Full Gospel
Businessmen’s Fellowship International
and a member of the
New Hope Pentecostal Church
in Lake Placid.
Survivors include his wife, the
former Patricia Stevens of Lake
Placid; three sons. Mark Sawyer
of Oswego. Roland and Joshua
Begor of Lake Placid; two
daughters. Melissa Sawyer of
Oswego and Rayna Begor of
Lake Placid; four sisters,
Mildred Brown of Franklin
Falls. Doris Stickney of Bloonv
ingdale. Cynthia Oliver of
Gabriels and June Begor of Lake
Clear; two brothers. Raymond
and Marvin Begor of Vermontville;
an aunt. Florence Boyea of
Arizona, and several nieces and
nephews. A brother, Paul, died
May 29. 1989. in Nevada.
Calling hours at the Clark
Funeral Home in Lake Placid
will be today from 2 to 4 and 7
to 9 p.m. A funeral service will
be held Friday morning at 11 at
the New Hope Pentecostal
Church. Averyville Road. Lake
Placid, with Richard Ducatt.

assisting Burial will be in the
North Elba Cemetery. Lake

Walter E. Boyea Jr.

PHOENIX, Arz. - Walter E.
Boyea Jr. 31, died Sunday, June
7, 1992, of an apparent heart attack
in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a
former resident of Vermontville.
He was born in Saranac Lake
June 25, 1961, the son of Walter
F and Jesslyn (Banter) Boyea.
He attended St Bernards
After graduation in 1978, he
became a self-employed restaurant
owner and operator. He
played the organ for several
Catholic churches in New Jersey
and Arizona and was a writer of
spiritual music with several
pieces published.
In addition to his parents, he
is survived by a sister, Wanda
Boyea, two brothers, William and
Wayne, and two, nephews,
Michael and Deron, all of
Phoenix; his grandmother, Mrs.
William (Florence) Boyea of
Kingman Ariz, His godmother
Mrs. Joseph (Pat) Thpmpson of
Saranac Lake; and many aunts,
uncles and cousins. His grandparents,
Benjamin and Jesslyn
(Gonyea) Banker, and grandfather,
William Boyea, died earlier.
Services will be held in
Arizona. A memorial Mass will
be held Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in
St. Pauls Church, Bloomingdale,
with the Rev. Patrick Mundy officiating.
A burial service will be
held June 27 in Chasm Falls
with the Rev. Albert Plante of
Sacred Heart Church in Massena
officiating.
Memorial donations may be
made to the Walter E. Boyea Jr.

Julius Welch, an old resident of
Ellenburgh and one of our best citizens
passed away to the other shore
Tuesday p. m. Mr. Welch was a veteran
of the war of the sixties and had
been a sufferer from chronic asthma
for many year.. At last, his lungs
became involved and the end came.
He leaves a large family and a large
circle of friends to mourn his loss

Bert W. Welch, 78, of 71 Clinton
St., died late Tuesday night at
Physicians Hospital, following an
illness of four months.
Mr. Welch is survived by one

Edsel J. “Ed” Welch
Plattsburgh ? Edsel J. “Ed” Welch, 77, of Cornelia Street, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Saranac on Sept. 7, 1925, the son of Milo and Mattie (Amo) Welch.

Edsel was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh, a charter member of the Peru Knights of Columbus, President of St. Vincent De Paul in Peru and had been involved with the Peru Youth Commission. He had been employed by A. Mason and Sons in Peru, owned Willsboro Supply Company in Willsboro and was a teacher of architectural drafting at John W. Harrold Educational Center until his retirement in 1985.

Edsel was recently honored for his participation in the development of the 1812 Homestead in Willsboro by director Jack Swan. A covered bridge was dedicated in his memory. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Philippines.

Edsel is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia (Lanoue) Welch of Plattsburgh; six children and three in-laws, Michael and Mary Welch of Deland, Fla., John Welch of Lyon Mountain, Paul Welch of Manahawken, N.J., William Welch of Plattsburgh, Colleen and Donald LaFountain of Peru and Thomas and Julie Welch of Plattsburgh; 12 grandchildren, Tifni Welch, Amy Horn, Laura Horn, Sarah Welch of Deland, Fla., Levi and Staci Welch of Houston, Texas, Jason, Matthew and Christopher Welch of Chateaugay, Gordon LaFountain, Tyler Puchrik, Seth Laroque and Gabriel Welch of Plattsburgh; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Joan and Frederick Plumadore of Clayburg, Carol Pommerining of Rochester and Imogene and Harold Bennett of Glendale, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.

Edsel was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Roberts; and two brothers, Stanton “Mike” Welch and Morris “Whitey” Welch.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Oct. 5, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 6, 2002, at 10 a.m. from St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
