<p>SARANAC LAKE — Leander<br />
Begor, 82, of Vermontville. died<br />
Tuesday morning at the Saranac<br />
Lake General Hospital.<br />
He was born on July 21, 1896 in<br />
Ellenburg,&#8217; the son of Ogdeir and<br />
Barbara Campbell Begor. His wife,<br />
the former Minnie Patnode, died in<br />
im.He is survived by four<br />
daughters, Mrs. Mildred Brown of<br />
Franklin Falls, Mrs. Doris<br />
Stickney of Bloomingdale, Mrs.<br />
Cynthia Oliver of Gabriels and<br />
Miss June Begor of Lake Clear;<br />
four sons, Raymond and Marvin,<br />
both of Vermontville, Dennis of<br />
Saranac Lake and Paul of Las<br />
Vegas; 32 grandchildren and 22<br />
great-grandchildren.<br />
Mr Begor had been a resident of<br />
Vermontville for the past 60 years.<br />
He was a veteran of World War I<br />
and was employed as a carpenter<br />
for many years with Potter and<br />
DeWitt Construction Co.<br />
There will be a funeral service<br />
today at 10:00 a.m. at the Fortune<br />
Funeral Home with the Rev. John<br />
McClester, pastor of the First<br />
Presbyterian Church, officiating.<br />
Interment will be in the Brighton<br />
Cemetery in May.<br />
Friends wishing to remember<br />
Mr. Begor may make donations to<br />

MT. NATIVE, DIES AT 43</p>
<p>Elmer J. Patnode, 43, a native of<br />
Lyon Mountain, died Monday at<br />
his home at Vermontville, following<br />
illness of about eight months. The<br />
funeral services were held Thursday<br />
morning at St. Paul&#8217;s Church,<br />
Bloomingdale. Interment was made<br />
in the church cemetery.<br />
Mr. Patnode was born at Lyon<br />
Mountain on Nov. 11, 1902, a son of<br />
Dominick and Pauline (Yelle) Patnode.<br />
He attended the Lyon Mountain<br />
schools and moved to Vermontville<br />
about 25 years ago with<br />
parents, who located on a farm.<br />
His father died there April 14, 1944,<br />
at. the age of 84.<br />
Mr. Patnode is survived by his<br />
widow, the former Helen Colllas;<br />
four children, Grace Patnode of<br />
Malone, Robert, Barbara and Marion<br />
Patnode, at home; his mother;<br />
three sisters, Mrs. Leander Begore<br />
and Mrs. William Bouyea of Vermontville<br />
and Mrs. William Purlong<br />
of Bloomingdale; also two<br />
brothers, Joseph Patnode of Rochester<br />
and William Patnode of Vermontville.</p>

its operation. Mr. Begor was a<br />
veteran of the Army, serving<br />
from 1963 to 1966. He was a<br />
member of the Full Gospel<br />
Businessmen&#8217;s Fellowship International<br />
and a member of the<br />
New Hope Pentecostal Church<br />
in Lake Placid.<br />
Survivors include his wife, the<br />
former Patricia Stevens of Lake<br />
Placid; three sons. Mark Sawyer<br />
of Oswego. Roland and Joshua<br />
Begor of Lake Placid; two<br />
daughters. Melissa Sawyer of<br />
Oswego and Rayna Begor of<br />
Lake Placid; four sisters,<br />
Mildred Brown of Franklin<br />
Falls. Doris Stickney of Bloonv<br />
ingdale. Cynthia Oliver of<br />
Gabriels and June Begor of Lake<br />
Clear; two brothers. Raymond<br />
and Marvin Begor of Vermontville;<br />
an aunt. Florence Boyea of<br />
Arizona, and several nieces and<br />
nephews. A brother, Paul, died<br />
May 29. 1989. in Nevada.<br />
Calling hours at the Clark<br />
Funeral Home in Lake Placid<br />
will be today from 2 to 4 and 7<br />
to 9 p.m. A funeral service will<br />
be held Friday morning at 11 at<br />
the New Hope Pentecostal<br />
Church. Averyville Road. Lake<br />
Placid, with Richard Ducatt.<br />
pastor, officiating and Lee<br />
Smith, pastor of Constable,<br />
assisting Burial will be in the<br />
North Elba Cemetery. Lake<br />
Placid.<br />
Memorial donations may be<br />
made to the Lake Placid Ambulance<br />
Service in his Memory.</p>

F and Jesslyn (Banter) Boyea.

<p>PHOENIX, Arz. - Walter E.<br />
Boyea Jr. 31, died Sunday, June<br />
7, 1992, of an apparent heart attack<br />
in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a<br />
former resident of Vermontville.<br />
He was born in Saranac Lake<br />
June 25, 1961, the son of Walter<br />
F and Jesslyn (Banter) Boyea.<br />
He attended St Bernards<br />
After graduation in 1978, he<br />
became a self-employed restaurant<br />
owner and operator. He<br />
played the organ for several<br />
Catholic churches in New Jersey<br />
and Arizona and was a writer of<br />
spiritual music with several<br />
pieces published.<br />
In addition to his parents, he<br />
is survived by a sister, Wanda<br />
Boyea, two brothers, William and<br />
Wayne, and two, nephews,<br />
Michael and Deron, all of<br />
Phoenix; his grandmother, Mrs.<br />
William (Florence) Boyea of<br />
Kingman Ariz, His godmother<br />
Mrs. Joseph (Pat) Thpmpson of<br />
Saranac Lake; and many aunts,<br />
uncles and cousins. His grandparents,<br />
Benjamin and Jesslyn<br />
(Gonyea) Banker, and grandfather,<br />
William Boyea, died earlier.<br />
Services will be held in<br />
Arizona. A memorial Mass will<br />
be held Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in<br />
St. Pauls Church, Bloomingdale,<br />
with the Rev. Patrick Mundy officiating.<br />
A burial service will be<br />
held June 27 in Chasm Falls<br />
with the Rev. Albert Plante of<br />
Sacred Heart Church in Massena<br />
officiating.<br />
Memorial donations may be<br />
made to the Walter E. Boyea Jr.<br />
-memorial- scholarship fund _for<br />
music in care of the Fortune-<br />
Keough Funeral Home in<br />
Saranac Lake.<br />

<p>Edsel J. &#8220;Ed&#8221; Welch<br />
Plattsburgh ? Edsel J. &#8220;Ed&#8221; Welch, 77, of Cornelia Street, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.</p>
<p>He was born in Saranac on Sept. 7, 1925, the son of Milo and Mattie (Amo) Welch.</p>
<p>Edsel was a member of St. Peter&#8217;s Church in Plattsburgh, a charter member of the Peru Knights of Columbus, President of St. Vincent De Paul in Peru and had been involved with the Peru Youth Commission. He had been employed by A. Mason and Sons in Peru, owned Willsboro Supply Company in Willsboro and was a teacher of architectural drafting at John W. Harrold Educational Center until his retirement in 1985.</p>
<p>Edsel was recently honored for his participation in the development of the 1812 Homestead in Willsboro by director Jack Swan. A covered bridge was dedicated in his memory. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Philippines.</p>
<p>Edsel is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia (Lanoue) Welch of Plattsburgh; six children and three in-laws, Michael and Mary Welch of Deland, Fla., John Welch of Lyon Mountain, Paul Welch of Manahawken, N.J., William Welch of Plattsburgh, Colleen and Donald LaFountain of Peru and Thomas and Julie Welch of Plattsburgh; 12 grandchildren, Tifni Welch, Amy Horn, Laura Horn, Sarah Welch of Deland, Fla., Levi and Staci Welch of Houston, Texas, Jason, Matthew and Christopher Welch of Chateaugay, Gordon LaFountain, Tyler Puchrik, Seth Laroque and Gabriel Welch of Plattsburgh; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Joan and Frederick Plumadore of Clayburg, Carol Pommerining of Rochester and Imogene and Harold Bennett of Glendale, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>Edsel was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Roberts; and two brothers, Stanton &#8220;Mike&#8221; Welch and Morris &#8220;Whitey&#8221; Welch.</p>
<p>Calling hours will be Sunday, Oct. 5, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 6, 2002, at 10 a.m. from St. Peter&#8217;s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter&#8217;s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.</p>
<p>Donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.</p>
