KENNETH E. McCUNE, 76, died at 11:31 p.m. Oct. 28, 2004, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Hume, to Edward H. and Emma Marguerite Dobie McCune, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 19, 1950, he married Audrey M. Miller, who survives in Lima.

Mr. McCune retired in 1993 as road superintendent for Shawnee Township. He had been a salesman for Lima Lumber Co. and had been the sexton of Shawnee Cemetery for many years. He was a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 96, the Northwest Ohio Volunteer Firemen’s Association and the Thursday Night Business Men’s Bowling League, where he had been secretary for more than 20 years. He had been a member of the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Association for 40 years and had been an active worker at Shawnee High School and Lima Locos concessions. He was an Air Force veteran.

Survivors also include two sons, Mickey (Hope) McCune of Cridersville and Gregory (Cheryl) McCune of Wapakoneta; a daughter, Kathy (Dave) Belton of Lima; seven grandchildren, Jason (Josie) Belton, Kellie Lange, Kimberly (Jason) Keller, Heather McCune, Jesica (Joshua) Altenburger, Tiffany (Quincy) Ballweg and Noah McCune; an honorary granddaughter, Anita Kiefer; an honorary grandson, Michael (Nikki) Blank; five great-grandchildren, Kyle Lange, Jordan and Jillian Belton, Rachel Keller and Kassie Blank; five brothers, Clyde (Mary Lou) McCune of St. Marys, Carl McCune of Wapakoneta, David McCune of Kettlersville, and Harvey (Susan) McCune and Garry McCune, both of Wapakoneta; and four sisters, Barbara Hall of Celina, Marjorie (Glen) Petty of Walton, N.Y., Beverly (friend Gary) Henshaw of Lima and Phyllis Shroyer of Colorado Springs, Col.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Shawnee United Methodist Church. Dr. Joseph Bishman will officiate. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shawnee United Methodist Church or to Shawnee Township Firefighters International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2550.
