Charles W. Hastings

Charles W. Hastings, 72, died at 12:40 p.m April 19, 2008, at Triumph Hospital, Lima, following a brief illness and surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 29, 1935, in Waynesfield to Frank and Alta Shoffner Hastings, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 24, 1953, he married Judy McGrievy, who survives.
Mr. Hastings was a retired truck driver being an owner/operator. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His greatest enjoyment of life was doing things with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors also include five children, Rick (Cindy) Hastings, of Lima, Deb (Dennis) Hawkey, of League City, Texas, Ronda (Pierre) Jacques, of Kalida, Kelly (Laura) Hastings, of Lima, and Kim Hastings, of Bluffton; a sister, Edna Parr, of Lima; 13 grandchildren Asa (Nancy) Mortimer, Ryan Mortimer and Jaime Mortimer, all of Lima, Nikki (Robert) Beene, of League City, Texas, Amie (Bart) Enright, of Aurora, Ill., Staci Hastings, of Clinton, N.J., Jessie Hastings, of Lima, Kalyn Burns and Lyndsey Burns, both of Bluffton, Elise Hastings and Dalton Hastings, both of Lima, Kent (Amber Crisp) Walters, of Elida, and Rachel Wilds, of Dublin; 12 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandsons; and his special pets, Penny and Kipper.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Glen Hastings; and a grandson, Kolin Hastings.
His wishes were to be cremated. Private family services will be held later.
